The Race for the Cure

On Sunday, August 8th we were at Union Station for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. What a morning! We all three did the 5k, Parker in his jogging stroller, me walking (with some friends, Morgan, Avery, Papa, and Grandma Julie), and Brandon ran it. Luckily it was only about 90 degrees, but being 5 months pregnant was a hurdle for me! We love doing this Race, not only because we feel good about it, but because it is fun for our us to go downtown and have an excuse to stay at the Westin, play in the fountains, eat at Fritz's (aka- the train restauran), and have fun as a family! Parker's favorite part was our hotel room- our room was on the 15th floor overlooking downtown KC! Parker was NOT scared of the elevators and was a trooper in riding them up and down...I think it helped that they had windows! We will definately stay down there again next year! This was our 6th year doing the Race (minus the year I was pregnant with Parker) and this was our favorite year!

Is it Really August Already?!

It seems like I just wrote a post about the beginning of summer at our house- with Aunt Dani starting to watch Parker and the first time getting in the pool for swimming lessons....now it is almost all over! This is Aunt Dani's last week at our house, the students will be back in a couple of weeks, the kids are starting school...the only thing that reminds me that it is still summer is the blistering heat! Even this pregnancy is flying by, with only 4 months left, baby brother will be here before we know it!

Parker has had a great summer- full of many fun activities; including, wagon rides to the "park" with Aunt Dani and Anthony...fighting off aligators along the way, getting Tropical Sno, going on vacation to Colorado, having a summer camp at Grandma Robbie's (and Grandpa Mahlon's), and enjoying the heat with his pool in the back yard. While it's all been so much fun, I think we are all ready for things to calm down and cool off! But, don't worry, we still have a few things up our sleeve to go out this summer with a bang!

Next weekend we will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for the 6th year in a row, but this time we got a room at the Westin so we don't have to get up so early! The weekend after that we will be going to the lake with the Woolery's (and Jayma) to relax one last time....and to see Annie swim! :) Then fall will officially be here with the start of school (at the University) and the football season on August 28th with the OU vs. Baker First Down Classic (sponsored by ESPN). This will be a huge (and fun) game!!

Fall is my favorite time of year- not just because of my birthday, but because of the weather changes, Parker's birthday, our anniversary, and the start of the school year! Fall is full of excitement and fun days at work and evenings playing outside. We are looking forward to this season change and to Parker's 3rd birthday on September 20th- his party is set for September 25th and is going to be a Toy Story theme....there is a special surprise for him and we can't wait!

Trip to Colorado

You can tell by some of Brandon's photos below that we had a GREAT time in Colorado! We headed out last Saturday and came home this past Saturday. We stayed in Colorado Springs, the Leadville area, and Denver and Parker had such a fun time playing with his cousins, climbing rocks, riding on the train, playing in the mountains, fishing, swinging, and hanging out with his family. We stayed at The Grand West cabins and they are wonderful- the setting is beautiful, quiet, and the cabins are clean and kid friendly. It is close to Turquoise Lake and Leadville and is absolutely beautiful! This trip solidified our decision to get a nice camper to take to Colorado on future family trips. :) We had so much fun together and it is amazing how incredible our little guy is with traveling and adjusting to new environments....he is a sweet boy! We decided that next time Bella has to go with us...as well as Parker's new little brother!

It's A..........

BOY!! We found out on July 16, 2010 that Parker is going to have a little brother! This is very exciting news because Parker will now have a playmate to get into trouble with and we have so much boy stuff that it will be much easier to plan for this baby!! :) At first Parker was upset...he went with Brandon and I to get the ultrasound and when we told him it was a baby brother, he kept saying that he was having a little sister! But, after convincing him that brothers are fun, he is ready for a "baby brother."
