Yep, I say it every year. Our summer is flying by at an uncontrollable speed. Last week Parker had Vacation Bible School, for the next two weeks both boys have swimming lessons, we've survived a season of t-ball, tried our hardest to go to the pool at least once a week, we've been to the lake, camping {a few times}, played with the neighbors {love our neighbors}, we've made it through another fiscal year at work, and now we are gearing up for the Fourth of July and a trip to Colorado! Whew!
But, in the midst of all of our fun summer activities, there's been a little gray cloud that's following us around. People ask me about it every day, but yet, I haven't had the thought to write about it, and to be honest, although this is something that is always on our minds, we've been so busy lately, it hasn't been at the forefront.
Here it is. On Sunday the contract on the house we want to buy ran out. We aren't renewing it. We're sad about it and our hearts ache a little at what we wish would have happened.
What did it come down to?
Selling our house.
Our house is still for sale. It will stay on the market as long as {what we thought would be} our forever home is still for sale. In the past 12 weeks we've had no one look at our house. Very disappointing. But, in retrospect, we are happy with what's happening.
I think we've got someone greater than us watching out for us. If we would have been moving this summer, we would be overwhelmed...we would be excited, but probably stressed to the brim and loosing it. We wouldn't be enjoying our summer months, but we'd be caught up in getting everything packed up and ready to go. Instead of having free time to plan Parker's 5th birthday {yep, that's right, my son will be 5 in a couple of months}, I would be worrying about house stuff.
In other words, we wouldn't be able to handle it and I think someone up above knew that and gave us some small signs. We are disappointed and were really wishing, but we are okay with this outcome.
So, I'll try to do a better job of keeping everyone updated. And we know it'll work out, one way or the other.
In the meantime, we are doing some fun things with our home - new carpet, new doors, new washer and dryer...yes, please!
We are very blessed.
Here's a little glimpse of what we've been focused on this past week...
Vacation Bible School {Round 1}
Okay, in this video, Parker is in the 2nd row and hard to point out. So, I'll help you a little. In that circle, that's Parker.
Now, here's the video of the kids singing this silly song...
Our own church doesn't have VBS until the end of July, but I know how social my son is and thought he would enjoy this one as well. Parker had so much fun at {round 1 of} VBS and every morning he looked forward to going to 'school' to learn and play and eat lunch. Once again, we are so blessed to live in this community that embraces our kids and where we know so many of the people involved in our kid's lives.
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons started yesterday. Parker loves it. Andrew was tentative at first, which was a shock, but he warmed right up and was doing the 'seal' exercise like a pro by the end of his first class. Here are a couple of videos of the boy's lessons this year.
Parker loves going underwater {he's the one is the blue shorts}...
Andrew enjoyed the little toys the best. But, don't try to sing songs with him...he didn't enjoy those so much.
You may have noticed that I don't have many photos to share...do you know how hard it is to lug a camera, two boys, and a swim bag around? Not to mention that with Andrew I am in the water with him! I promise {to myself} to take more photos.
Tomorrow is the 4th of July and we are so excited to have our annual get together! What are your plans for the Fourth? Be safe and have fun my friends!
